Robert Wyse Jackson (12 July 1908 - 21 October 1976) was an eminent Irish Bishop [1] and author [2] during the mid 20th century.[3]
Educated at Trinity College, Dublin,[4] he qualified as a barrister[5] but was then ordained in 1934. He began his career as Curate of St James' Church, Broughton, Salford[6] after which he was Curate-in-charge of Corbally and then Rector of St Michael’s, Limerick. He was Dean of the Cathedral Church of St John the Baptist and St Patrick’s Rock, Cashel[7] from 1946 to 1960 and then Bishop of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe[8] from 1961[9] until his retirement in 1970.
His son Peter is a former Director of the Irish National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin and currently heads up Missouri Botanical Garden.[10]
